NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer grew up in a family of five in which he loved taking part in various card games at a young age. He discovered himself becoming really competitive in these particular card games as he was playing his father. After finishing high school, Howard made a decision to place college on hold for a bit and moved away to New York City to play some big-time chess. While playing chess, he was brought in to a poker game going on in the back of the room. Howard’s first two years were rough as he would play extensive hours and lost a majority of the time. He earned some additional money by becoming an assistant for the poker players. He judged he could better his game by balancing his life away from poker. He brought about an effort to get more sleep and focus attention more on poker.
The definite advancement in his skills began when he began playing at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the the most favorable gamblers would frequently challenge one another. Howard was able to access a number of the best minds in chess. With their assistance, he would tweak his cunning thinking techniques. He used these strategy ideas in the game of No-Limit Texas Holdem.
Howard Lederer also helped his sister Annie Duke learn the game of poker. Annie was a great student of the game as she constantly asked questions about how to make the correct decision. He told Annie to head out to Sin City and compete in the WSOP tournaments. She is one of the strongest female players the poker arena today. Howard headed to Vegas in 1993 and played money games for the next 10 years. When the WPT grew in popularity, Howard decided to participate in more tournaments.
