Web Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
by Bo on April 29th, 2019
Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the last table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world. While gambling on online poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus often competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen generally buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy in.
Buying in for the min takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world at times. The best poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have will not have heard of. Gus can be seen betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in high stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash games?
