Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor in the world by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has won some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
