Distracting Players

Do you ever acquire that itch? The itch to bet, to head to the nearest casino, to find a high stakes casino game of Texas hold em, to sit at a Black jack table for hours on end. I really like that itch. And I like to scratch it.
I also really like to watch people gamble. No 2 poker faces seem similar. When I bet I like to feel I put on a poker face that is impassable. But I know I have particular personal habits. For 1, the only time I smoke cigarettes is when I bet on poker or Twenty-one. And then I chain smoke. But I chain smoke no matter if I am succeeding or losing, whether or not I have a excellent hand or bad.
I once bet in a weekly poker game. The game was generally 5 card draw. There was a player who played with us every week who often wore a hat. When he was dealt a great hand, unconsciously, he would start touching and playing with his hat. Pointless to say, he in no way won.
The very best poker player I ever saw was a gentleman who created far more actions and signals at a poker table than anyone I had ever seen. He was flawless in the way he dressed. Generally an pricey suit and tie, boots shined and nails trimmed. He was meticulous in this manner. And he was often brushing his pant leg or holding his hands or stacking his chips in neat little piles.
I use to study him for hours. I would tried to see if I could notice his tell. Choosing fuzz off his jacket- did this mean he was bluffing? Arranging his chips in a short pile – did this mean he had a excellent hand?
Years later I ran into him inside a bar in Boston and we had a beer. I asked him if he have been aware of all those motions he manufactured or if they had been unconscious. He informed me that every single single thing he did at a poker table was intentional. He said that everybody is always checking out everyone else’s poker face. They are attempting to notice the the tell.
So his method was to give them lots to assume about. His reasoning was if they had been pondering about him picking a piece of fuzz off his vest and what it meant they certain were not pondering about their cards.
His program was diversion. And it worked for him. By no means give up a technique that works for you.
